GRAPEVINE RIGHT, TOUCH

1-2    Step right side, cross left behind

3-4    Step right side, touch left together

 

GRAPEVINE LEFT, TOUCH

5-6    Step left side, cross right behind

7-8    Step left side, touch right together

 

WALK BACK, TOUCH

9-11  Walk back stepping right-left-right

12     Touch left together

 

STEP, TOUCH, STEP, TOUCH, STEP, TOUCH, STEP, TOUCH, STEP WITH 1⁄4 TURN, HOP

13-14   Step left forward, touch right foot toe to left heel

15-16   Step right toe back, touch left foot toe to right toe

17-18   Step left forward, touch right foot toe to left heel

19-20   Step right toe back, touch left foot toe to right toe

21-22   Step left forward, turning 1⁄4 turn to your left, hop

This 18-count dance has been around for many, many years, and has seen thousands of variations. For example, some dancers will turn the first 8 counts into a vine right with a scuff and a vine left with a scuff, with an optional full turn on either or both vines. This is a very common variation that gives it the ultra beginner rating. But the slides as shown in counts 1-8 above are presumably where the dance got its name, so we choose to offer it this way.
